The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has an open, delineated nose; there’s just a touch of VA in the background, albeit nothing to get too concerned about. The palate is fleshy and well balanced, displaying very fine tension and a sense of energy. Almost Morey-like in structure on the spicy, lingering finish. There’s a lot going on here – and I like that. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
